In an atmosphere of dignity and respect, Inspiration Corporation helps people who are affected by homelessness and poverty to improve their lives and increase self-sufficiency through the provision of social services, employment training and placement, and housing.
Center for Changing Lives
Center for Changing Lives is open to any individual who has a vision for their future and a goal they want to work on! CCL has a long history of serving a range of community members and specializes in empowering those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness to change their lives.
CCL’s mission is to partner with those held back by lack of resource and economic opportunity in order to uncover possibilities, overcome barriers, and realize their potential.
Services include:
- HUD certified housing counseling, including housing relocation assistance
- Employment coaching and placement,
- Financial counseling, including accessing to emergency fund assistance and asset building programs,
- Income support screening and advocacy,
- Intensive case management, including assessment and goal planning
- Job readiness and life skills training
- Digital Literacy training, education, and tutoring
- Referrals to external resources for emergency services, vocational training, substance abuse recovery services, and mental health counseling,
- Mail services
Intake Process
Clients can call ahead or walk in to our address at 1955 N St Louis Ave to schedule an appointment. Upon arrival, they will be given concise paper work to fill out, and will be scheduled for their appointments. If your appointment was made previous to walking into the office, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to complete the necessary paperwork. Please have on hand State ID and Social Security Card if possible (this is not a requirement for receipt of services).

Case management: Our case managers help our guests every step of the way. They work with our guests one-on-one to help them:
find housing
identify needs
set goals
establish priorities
find service providers that can help
determine eligibility requirements
determine availability of appropriate programs
set appointments
complete applications for various programs, and
identify the next problem or issue to be worked on.

men must be in by 6:15pm and will be put on the waiting list
no sex offenders are allowed
Intake Process
Clients must complete an intake form to be admitted to the shelter or case management. Case managers introduce themselves to guests at the soup kitchen and offer their services.

ACCION Chicago
ACCION Chicago is an alternative lending organization dedicated to providing credit and other business services to small business owners who do not have access to traditional sources of financing. By encouraging the economic self-reliance of microentrepreneurs throughout the Chicagoland area, ACCION Chicago strives to help businesses and communities grow.
The mission of ACCION Chicago is to provide credit to small businesses that do not have access to loans from commercial sources. ACCION Chicago lends from $500 to $25,000 with terms from 2 to 60 months. Collateral filing fees and a commitment fee are added to the loan requiring no out of pocket expense at the time of closing. We require loans to be secured by collateral which is valued at liquidation or trade-in prices. ACCION Chicago may also request a cosigner in some cases (Cosigner: A person who does not live in the applicant’s household and is not a principal member of the business. Cosigners must have good credit and the capacity to make the loan payment). ACCION Chicago never charges a fee for early payoff of a loan, and even encourages it.

Mission & Vision
The vision of River City Community Church is to become a multi-ethnic community of Jesus-followers that transforms the city of Chicago through worship, reconciliation, and neighborhood development.
Worship. Jesus taught that every human being is created to be a worshiper–they are born to live with something as their central object of affection. When that central object of affection for a man or woman is not God, it is always replaced by something else (e.g., relationships, money, job, power, etc.). Our vision at River City is to see every person have a powerful relationship with their Creator, learning to have God as the central object of their affection. Reconciliation. Jesus taught that humanity has been created in God’s image, but that continued disobedience in an already fallen world breaks the intended harmonious relationship between God and His people. 26th Ward Ald. Roberto Maldonado
Roberto Maldonado was appointed Alderman of the 26th Ward in July 2009, after serving as Commissioner of the 8th district for 15 years.
Roberto has always believed that government exists to help poor, working class and middle class families who face discrimination and lack a voice in government and politics. His legislative agenda reflected this belief.
In 1994, Roberto became the fourth Latino elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners since its inception in 1831. During his term he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Association of County Officials (“NACO”). Roberto also served as past-President of the NACO affiliate, the National Association of County Aging Programs, advocating for federal and county senior health issues.
Building a Business; Joining the Historic Washington Movement
At 27, Roberto Maldonado arrived in Chicago to pursue his doctorate at Loyola University, after graduating from the prestigious University of Puerto Rico with a master’s degree in clinical psychology. While pursuing his studies, he also worked full-time as a psychologist in the Chicago Public Schools.
Before pursuing elected office, Roberto opened People’s Choice Mortgage Corporation, the first Hispanic owned mortgage-banking firm in the Midwest, giving people from all walks of life the opportunity of home ownership. He currently serves as the firm’s President.
Roberto’s political journey began in the early 1980’s during an historical turning point in politics—the election of Chicago’s first African-American Mayor, Harold Washington. His service in Washington’s administration and, later, his position as campaign manager for, then-Alderman, and future Congressman, Luis Gutierrez fueled Roberto’s passion for politics.
Alderman Maldonado now sits on these committees: Rules & Ethics, Economic Development, Capital & Technology Development, Education & Child Development, Energy, Environmental Protection & Public Utilities and Human Relations.
Chicago Cares
Chicago Cares is a non-profit organization that engages thousands in volunteer service to meet Chicago’s critical needs; including those in Humboldt Park. Chicago Cares develops more than 215 original group volunteer projects each month serving children, adults and seniors in need, as well as the environment. Through volunteer service, Chicago Cares enables, educates and inspires people to make Chicago a better community for everyone. Chicago Cares is an affiliate of HandsOn Network.
