Youth Gear Up for the Year Up Program

Mr. Philip Taylor, Recruitment and Outreach Specialist for Year Up-Chicago, introduced Year Up at the Chicago Avenue Revitalization Task Force Meeting on Saturday, September 15, 2012. His presentation both enlightened and intrigued the audience. The West Humboldt Park community supports youth mentoring programs that focus on education and the professional development of West Humboldt Park youth. If you are a motivated young adult, between the ages of 18 to 24, and interested in a career in information technology, business communications, and building professional skills, then the Year Up Program is waiting for you!


Value Master VMC Donated to Humboldt Park Vocational Center

Hyundai WIA recently hosted a ceremony during IMTS to donate their latest generation VMC, a F400 Value Master – Vertical Machining Center, to the Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center (HPVEC) of City Colleges of Chicago. The donation took place Tuesday, September 11th, in the South Hall of McCormick Place, Chicago, IL.

WWP INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

The Westside Writing Project (WWP) is a nonprofit after-school initiative that works to improve the overall communication skills of area youth by helping students develop an interest in media and journalism. We combine an awareness of community issues and current events with exposure in digital media that introduces students to new technology as well as new forms of communication. We are currently seeking student interns for the following positions.

The course that I am in has been very informative.  I have been able to upgrade my skills and enhance them through this computer course program offered at the association house.  I recommend this to every and anyone who is willing to be patient and learn. The bennefits are emense to the degree in which you dedicate your interests.

This Wednesday, Chicago City Council could vote to decriminalize minor marijuana possession. Jim says it will allow police to focus on serious crime — tell the council to support the proposal.
