Why Join a Junior Board?

While nonprofit organizations in Chicago receive tremendous support from individuals and foundations that help fulfill their missions, the needs often can surpass the resources and funding to help meet them.  Many times, nonprofits get creative and find ways to facilitate their services at low to no cost for those that would otherwise have no access to various services and/or programs.  Nonprofits also stay afloat because of the commitment of people that either volunteer their time and talents or donate their money to support a cause.  St. Joseph Services (SJS), a nonprofit organization serving the Austin and Humboldt Park communities of Chicago since 2001, can speak to that creativity.

In the past fiscal year, SJS established a new Junior Board.  The SJS Junior Board that started off with about seven members in July of 2013, has already grown to a total of eleven young professionals deeply committed to the organization’s cause and communities.  The purpose of the SJS Junior Board is to foster the participation of young professionals through their involvement in organizational events and programs.  While a Junior Board is an invaluable addition to a nonprofit organization like SJS, one might also find benefits to becoming a member.  As a young professional, involvement in a Junior Board leads to professional growth, networking opportunities, and the development of leadership skills, in addition to social engagement.

For an opportunity to meet current Junior Board members, learn about their experiences, and support a great cause, please consider attending their next event:
