State Budget Hurting Anti-Violence Programs
An article in today’s Chicago Tribune outlines how the state budget problems are impacting anti-violence programs, including here in Humboldt Park.
Kenny Martin-Ocasio, the executive director of Youth Service Project, , which serves children and their family in the Greater Humboldt Park community, says the agency is owed nearly $300,000 on state contracts for its intervention programs and its activities to prevent drug abuse and violence prevention.
‘When these kids have no place to go, the potential that they will be recruited for gang activity or become victims of gang activity is higher,’ said Martin-Ocasio.
