New Humboldt Park Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program

The Puerto Rican Cultural Center would like to welcome Janeida Rivera as the Coordinator and Facilitator of the new program, Community As A Campus Youth Quest for Empowerment Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (CAACYQE TPPP) for the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC). TPPP provides culturally, developmentally and age appropriate teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and HIV/AIDS prevention services to Latino and African American adolescents and youth ages 14-18 years of age who are in grades 9th – 12th. Program service are inclusive of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trangender and Queer (LGBTQ) youth.

TPPP is inviting local high schools, youth services, clinics/hospitals, and social service agencies to form the ‘TPPP Community Coalition’. TPPP Community Coalition Members will attending quarterly meetings with TPPP progress and assessment updates, upcoming program event and activity schedules, School/Organization/Agency needs assessment and implementation plans while also providing space for TPPP Community Coalition Members to engage in meaningful dialogue around teen pregnancy and STI/HIV prevention in Humboldt Park.

  • Participating TPPP Community Coalition Member’s schools and organizations will receive, at no cost to their institution:
  • Weekly after school programming (Time: 3:00PM – 5:00PM, Dates: TBA, Location: Batey Urbano Youth Center 2620 W. Division St.)
  • Evidence based comprehensive sexual education curriculum with skill-based lessons (On-site or Batey Urbano)
  • Positive Youth Development (PYD) opportunities such as: culturally relevant programming, local service learning and civic engagement opportunities.
  • Referrals to STI and HIV testing and other health human services.
  • Participation in raising public awareness of teen pregnancy and available resources that is inclusive of both an abstinence and comprehensive sexual health approach and more…
