Near North Health Service Corporation celebrates its 22^nd Annual Men’s Health Week

 Chicago, IL, May 30, 2014 – The Near North Health Service Corporation will host its 22^nd Annual Men’s Health Week on June 9 – 13, 2014 to celebrate National Men’s Health Month. The official event kickoff, at the Komed Holman Health Center at 10am on Monday June 9, will feature keynote speaker Pastor Corey Brooks. Also on the program are Talk Show Host and Producer at WBEZ 91.5 FM, Richard Steele.

 Near North’s Men’s Health Week is part of a national initiative designed to heighten awareness of preventable health issues and encourage early detection and treatment of diseases and injuries amongst men and boys.

 The men who attend the event can partake in free health services at any of the below Near North Health Service Corporation locations:

 The services include health screenings, haircuts, cooking demonstrations, interactive workshops, giveaways, refreshments, and a men-only roundtable discussion where men can openly discuss pertinent health issues plaguing them in the community. Last year, Near North provided nearly 1,000 men with physicals, Prostate Cancer screenings, and oral health screenings. In addition to providing physical health services, the goal for this event is to ensure men in underserved communities have access to quality social support services that will empower men to engage in healthy living year-round.
