Residents and local business owners express excitement, hope as well as uncertainty in a recent segment on the Bloomingdale Trail, produced by Humboldt Park-based Community TV Network (CTVN)’s award-winning show, Hard Cover. Dubbed “The 606”, the Bloomingdale Trail is a project over a decade in the making, designed to add more green space to the Bucktown, Humboldt Park, Logan Square and Wicker Park neighborhoods. See the video below or click here to watch it on YouTube.

“In the summer of 2013 young people involved in Community TV Network’s After School Matters (ASM) program produced several videos about the ever-growing and changing Humboldt Park neighborhood,” said Denise Zaccardi, Executive Director of CTVN. “Since we’re located in the Bloomingdale Arts Building, directly facing the site of the Bloomingdale Trail, our story as an organization is connected to this project”

Hard Cover is the longest-running youth-produced cable TV series in the country, and airs on Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV). CTVN has been a leader in community access to media and empowering low-income young adults and children in Chicago since 1974. Located in Humboldt Park since 1975, youth involved in CTVN’s programs have produced several videos either about or based in Humboldt Park.

In addition to having programs in alternative and public schools across the city and After School Matters (ASM) programs, CTVN is also a fully-housed video production company, available for events and promotional videos for small businesses and non-profit organizations.
