Girls in the Game Launches #GivingTuesday Campaign

Girls in the Game launches their #GivingTuesday campaign for November 29 with the theme “Be a Superhero for A Girl.” They encourage supporters and community members to strike a superhero pose, take a #superheroselfie to share on social media and donate to their cause.

#GivingTuesday is an international day of giving the following Tuesday after Thanksgiving that brings people together to celebrate their favorite nonprofit causes. Last year, 700,000 people donated over $116 billion dollars to charity on #GivingTuesday, and numbers are expected to increase this year.

Girls in the Game is excited to join the momentum this year and raise funds to empower girls in underserved communities in Chicago. All donations raised will help girls become leaders and discover their strength through sports and innovative leadership programming. Girls in the Game works at over 40 schools throughout the year to make sure girls ages seven to 18 have opportunities to be active, learn how to lead a healthy lifestyles and work on college readiness skills.

By showing your #superheroselfie and donating to Girls in the Game you can join the movement of over 1.3 million tweets and 7,500 #unselfies on Instagram this #GivingTuesday, and make a difference in your community by believing in the power of girls.

Girls in the Game Director of Development and Communications, Dawn Kobel, stated “Girls in the Game is excited to share its mission with new supporters for Giving Tuesday. In Chicago, Baltimore and Dallas, we are working to ensure that girls have access to sports, health information and opportunities to find their voice and develop as leaders as they prepare to be a future group of superheroes in their lives and the lives of those around them.”
