July 29 – 31, 2022| 36th Annual Newberry Book Fair

Book-Lovers’ Weekend Includes Storytelling Fest With Acclaimed Authors

WHAT: A Chicago summer tradition is back after a two-year hiatus. Thousands of people are expected to visit the Newberry Library for the free, 3-day indoor book fair running July 29-31, 2022.

This year’s weekend includes an outdoor storytelling fest on Saturday, July 30 in Washington Square Park (across the street from the Newberry). The fest includes story sessions with acclaimed authors, including Dawn Turner – author of Three Girls from Bronzeville and recent winner of the Newberry’s inaugural $25,000 Pattis Family Foundation Chicago Book Award.

All books at the book fair are priced at $3 or less and include fiction, philosophy, history, art, cooking, children’s literature, and more. “The Newberry Book Fair is a celebration of reading, discovery, and the power of stories to bring us together,” said Daniel Greene, President of  the Newberry Library. “We can’t wait to welcome readers back to the Newberry for this signature event.”

COST: FREE admission. All book fair proceeds support the library’s mission to foster a

deeper understanding of our world through research and learning.

ALSO: Chicago Storytelling: Sat. July 30, 2022, 1:00 p – 4:30 p in Washington Square Park; Pattis Family Foundation Chicago Book Award presentation at 4:00 pm
