‘Dare to Dream’ Gala gives birth to new shelter in Humboldt Park

On October 1st, 2010, the Chicago Dream Center hosted their 1st Annual “Dare to Dream” Gala at Galleria Marchetti’s in order to raise funds towards the rehabilitation of the CDC’s most recent addition – the AXIS teen boy’s shelter, which is in need of a complete gut/rehab costing approximately $250,000. The property is located at 1638 N. California Ave.  and will not only provide the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter, but also job and life skills training. ‘Most importantly, we will give the safety and support needed for these young men to grow into self-sufficient members of society. Our goal is to make this empty house a home and you will be part of helping these young men dream again.,’ said Trish Klodenko, Dream Center Executive Direcotor. The Dare to Dream Gala was albe to raise a third of the funds required to begin construction.

‘Despite our Country’s current economic condition the Chicago Dream Center, through this and other efforts to raise funds, will be able to meet the needs of all the families and individuals who turn to us for assistance and support,’ said Rev. Wilfredo De Jesús, Senior Pastor of New Life Covenant.

The Chicago Dream Center (CDC) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization of New Life Covenant Ministries that has been successfully operating and growing since 2007.
