Chicago Suntimes–Fly fishing know-it-all Dan Pieczonka knows how to tie just the right “popper” to catch a 3-pound bass in a Humboldt Park lagoon, but as one patron mentioned, “He’s so old school. But with the way he does business you can’t exist anymore. These small shops are dying.” So far, the band of Internet-savvy fishermen’s plan worked. “I made enough money in January to get myself out of a deep hole,” Pieczonka said. “I feel I might be able to survive. The alternative is oblivion.”
