Star Brooks, a resident of Humboldt Park, has been awarded a $4,000 collegiate scholarship from the Union League Boys & Girls Club. A senior at Holy Trinity High School, Star plans on attending a four-year university in the fall.

Star joined the Boys & Girls Club in elementary school and quickly became involved on a daily basis, receiving tutoring and attending recreational events. When she matriculated to high school, Star returned to the club as a volunteer. “I wanted to work with the kids and give back because the Boys & Girls Club has given so much to me.”

In addition to her volunteer work, Star is co-captain of the Girls’ Volleyball and Girls’ Basketball teams and is involved in the Black Student Union at Holy Trinity.
