DESCRIPTION:Gourmet Puerto Rico is Chicago’s finest Puerto Rican Gastronomy event and fundraiser benefiting Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center and Día de la Mujer Latina. \nGourmet Puerto Rico will feature 5 food stations and celebrate Puerto Rico’s leading Chefs\, global cuisine\, culture\, music\, tourisim and much more. Hosted by WGN’s Ana María Belaval\, Gourmet Puerto Rico will propel all aspects of Puerto Rican cuisine and cocktails. Ticket includes Chef-crafted food tastings\, 2 cocktails and entertainment curated by Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center. \nSegundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center (SRBCC)\, the longest-standing Latino cultural center in Chicago\, played a key role in supporting Puerto Rican artists after hurricane María\, creating the Chicago Hurricane Aid for Puerto Rican Arts\, and promoting ongoing collaborations and exchanges to maintain the vibrancy of the island’s artistic scene. SRBCC is also the fiscal sponsor and one of the leading organizations in the Puerto Rican Agenda’s 3R’s for PR campaign\, an initiative that raised close to $500\,000 for relief and reconstruction projects in 40 municipalities after Irma and María.

DESCRIPTION:Fiestas de la Calle is part of a new Puerto Rican art series titled “Borinken me Llama”\, funded by the Chicago Community Trust’s Strengthening Artistic and Cultural Diversity Grant. In this event\, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center’s artists and performers will re-create the world famous Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián in our 6\,000 sq. ft multi-arts space in Hermosa. \nJoin us for a night of art\, live music\, amazing food and solidarity with the people of Puerto Rico. All proceeds directly benefit SRBCC’s programs and artistic exchanges between Puerto Rican artists residing in the island and local artists of Puerto Rican descent. \nEntertainment for the evening includes: Live Salsa with Roy McGrath\, traditional Plena by Los Pleneros de Don Segundo and special guests The Four Star Brass Band\, bringing their authentic New Orleans-style flavor. \n“Borinken Me Llama” will bring the following events in 2018 thanks to the generous support of The Chicago Community Trust.
