Enjoy beautiful views of the city while dashing above Northwest side neighborhoods on the celebrated\, elevated Bloomingdale Trail. \nThis is a family-friendly event with a timed 5K as well as ¼ and ½ mile dashes for young runners. Runners will begin and finish on the West end of the Bloomingdale Trail at the McCormick YMCA (1834 N. Lawndale) with light breakfast treats\, fruit and coffee provided for all participants. Please note\, The Bloomingdale Trail will be closed to all other users while the run is being conducted. The Bloomingdale Trail Run is produced by the Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail\, the McCormick YMCA\, and the Chicago Park District. \nWHERE: Start at the west end of the Bloomingdale Trail at the McCormick YMCA\, 1834 N Lawndale Ave\, Chicago\, IL 60647 \nWHEN: Sat\, August 12th\, 2023\, 9:00 am – 11:00 am. DESCRIPTION:Rain or shine! \nThe Second Annual Bloomingdale Trail Run is a timed event that offers 5k and 8k options for new and expert runners alike. Enjoy views of the loop in the distance while dashing above Northwest side neighborhoods on the celebrated\, elevated Bloomingdale Trail. Runners will begin and finish at Walsh Park (1722 N. Ashland) where they and their families will be treated to light breakfast treats. \nThe Trail will be closed to all other users while the run is being conducted. The Bloomingdale Trail Run is produced by the Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail and the Chicago Park District in partnership with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association \n\nREGISTER TODAY  \n\nRace Logistics \n\n\nPre/Post-Race Festivities & Day-of Registration – Walsh Park\, 1722 N. Ashland \nThe first wave of runners will step off at 9:00 am\, followed by waves of runners stepping off every 2 minutes. The final wave will depart at approximately 9:30am. Waves 1-3 will be reserved for competitive runners (8 minute pace per mile or less)\, waves 4-10 will be reserved for recreational runners (9-11 minute pace per mile or less)\, and the remaining waves will be reserved for casual runners (11 minute pace per mile or more). The race is 5k or 8k with runners turning around at designated points on the Bloomingdale Trail \n\n\nEntry Fees \nBloomingdale Trail Run including t-shirt: $30 ($25 Early Bird special before June 1st) \n*All entry fees are non-refundable\, and may not be deferred toward a future event. The 7 story plan calls for retail on the first two floors\, 127 residential units\, and a portion of the 2nd Floor retail space and amenities to be directly available to the public from the Bloomingdale Trail. \nPlease come and voice your hopes\, thoughts and concerns. What impact will such a development have on the neighborhood and the Bloomingdale Trail? What accommodations are there for affordability? What amenities exactly are being offered to neighbors and Bloomingdale Trail users? \nHere is the original announcement: \n“NOTICE OF COMMUNITY MEETING\nWHO: ALL NEIGHBORS\nWHAT: COMMUNITY MEETING\nWHY: PROPOSED ZONING MAP AMENDMENT & REDEVELOPMENT PLAN 1750 North Western Avenue\nWHERE: THE JOINERY 2533 West Homer Street\, Chicago\, Illinois\nWHEN: TUESDAY – MARCH 27\, 2018 at 7:00 PM\nPlease join us to discuss the proposed zoning map amendment application and redevelopment plan for the property located at 1750 North Western Avenue. \nThe Applicant is seeking to construct a new seven-story mixed-use (commercial/residential) building\, at the subject property. The new proposed building will contain commercial/retail space – at grade level and the 2nd Floor\, and a total of 127 dwelling units – above (Floors 2 thru 7). Due to the property’s immediate position near the elevated Bloomingdale Trail\, a portion of the 2nd Floor retail space and amenities will be directly available to residents of the Neighborhood and users of the Trail. Toward that same end\, the subject property is also located less than 1\,320 linear feet from the entrance to the CTA Blue Line Station\, and – therefore\, the Applicant is seeking to permit the building pursuant to the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Ordinance. As such\, the new building will have onsite parking for a total of thirty-six (36) vehicles\, located within the interior of the 1st Floor\, for use by the residential and retail tenants of the new building and their guests/patrons. \nIn order to permit the proposal\, a zoning map amendment is required to change the existing zoning from a C1-2 Neighborhood Commercial District to a B3-5 Community Shopping District and then to a Residential-Business Planned Development. \nThis meeting is being hosted by the Applicant – GW Property Group LLC\, in cooperation with Alderman Proco Joe Moreno.
