DESCRIPTION:La Casa Norte’s Fresh Market food pantry\, located at 3533 W North Ave\, continues to provide free fresh\, nutritious food to the community during these unprecedented times. The Fresh Market is open Monday\, Tuesday\, and Wednesday from 11am-2pm. Following the increased need for healthy food and groceries during COVID-19\, we have lifted the service area boundaries and are now serving the greater Chicagoland area. Guests can pick up a distribution of frozen meats\, dairy products\, fresh produce\, and non-perishables once a month. Additionally\, registered guests now can pick up a weekly distribution of fresh produce in addition to their distribution on Tuesdays only. \nAlong with fresh groceries\, guests will receive a resource packet to connect them with additional resources from food access\, rental assistance; support in applying for public benefits\, immigration services\, and legal aid\, among others. We update this packet frequently to make sure that guests receive the latest information. We also distribute nutrition education resources\, including fact sheets on chronic health conditions and healthy recipes to try out with food from the pantry. \nPlease note the new safety measures we are using to ensure the health of our staff\, volunteers\, and clients. All clients will wait in line outside of the building at 8 feet from one another marked by blue tape on the sidewalks. Clients will be served on a first-come\, first served basis. Groceries will be brought to them curbside. \nOur services are open to the public regardless of citizenship status and are accessible to both English and Spanish speakers. IDs are not required\, but strongly encouraged\, to register for the Fresh Market. Household information\, such as household size\, name\, and date of birth of each household member\, are required to register for an account. In only 15 weeks\, you will learn the skills needed for rewarding entry-level positions in cabinetmaking\, furniture making\, exhibit building\, and the wood products industry from experienced and supportive instructors.  Entry salaries range from $17 – $20 per hour\, growing to $20 – $40 per hour with years of on-the-job experience.  There’s no limit to your learning in this field.  Fast track in three and a half months through training to careers as skilled cabinetmaker apprentice\, bench carpenter\, machine operator\, CNC operator\, assembler\, furniture fabricator\, or solid surface counter fabricator.  Study CNC operation\, print reading\, precision measuring\, and cabinetmaking techniques. \nIncludes job placement services\, transportation assistance\, and an inspirational learning environment.  Classes are conducted at 500 N.
