SUMMARY:Gathering Intelligence and Mapping Out a Strategy
DESCRIPTION:Now that you understand how the data may be used for redistricting purposes\, we will share how to lay the groundwork for community-based redistricting strategies. \nThis webinar is the second of a 3-part case study of how the Lawndale Alliance worked with other organizations around the State of Illinois to develop a redistricting map proposal that maximized opportunities for minority groups to elect candidates of their choice.  This webinar will  help you identify a community of interest and provide an overview of some of the redistricting strategies that you might be able to use in your own advocacy for fair redistricting.

SUMMARY:CAPS Beat 1112/1121 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Beat community meetings are a key part of the CAPS strategy of partnerships and problem solving. \nThese meetings\, held on all 279 police beats in the City\, provide a regular opportunity for police officers\, residents\, and other community stakeholders to exchange information\, identify and prioritize problems\, and begin developing solutions to those problems. \nBeat community meetings are regular meetings held on all 285 police beats in Chicago. Every beat is required to meet at least quarterly\, although the vast majority of beats meet every month or every other month. \nThe primary purpose of the beat community meeting is to allow beat residents\, other community stakeholders and police to discuss chronic problems on the beat and to engage in problem solving using the CAPS five-step problem-solving process. Beat community meetings provide an opportunity for police and community residents to exchange information about conditions in the neighborhood\, to identify crime and disorder problems\, and to develop strategies to combat those problems. The meeting also provides an opportunity for police and community to get to know one another. \nFollow on Twitter @ChicagoCaps11 \nDownload a schedule of all 011th District Beat Meetings here.
