BankWork$ Financial Careers Training Begins
February 5, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This is an 8 week training for low-income persons wishing to launch a career in the financial sector. The program is focused on developing customer service and sales skills, as well as knowledge of banking regulations, financial products and services, cash handling, mock interviewing and other related skills in order that the graduate is prepared to work in an entry-level position in banking such as Teller, Personal Banker or Telephone Banker. The course culminates in a job fair where students interview with our 13 Chicagoland financial industry partners.
Entry into the program is competitive. Generally, admitted students have recent continuous employment (6 months minimum) in a position involving cash handling or sales. The longer the length of previous employment the better. Examples of positions that are attractive to our banker partners –
• Cashier – retail, fast food, grocery store, department store, etc.
• Sales rep – cell phone store (boost, t-mobile, etc.) call center, door to door, car dealership, any other heavy sales role
• Front of the house restaurant/café positions
