Chicago McDonald’s Host Second Annual McTeacher’s Night for Chicago School

Albert R. Sabin Dual Language Magnet School from CPS held their second annual McTeacher's Night at a Chicago McDonald's on Western Ave. on Thursday, March 16.  A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Thursday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Sabin Dual Language Magnet School.  The students and families were excited to see their teachers behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Eleven teachers worked from the school, including Dual Language Coordinator Joe Lazio.  The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Middle School Science teacher, Brian Beeh, had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume.  He was encouraging the families to donate and receive a delicious hot apple pie.  Over 100 pies were sold for a donation!

Ronald McDonald stopped by to enjoy the festivities and meet the students and staff members from Sabin Dual Language Magnet School.   The students enjoyed getting their picture taken and giving Ronald McDonald high fives!

A special thank you goes to 2nd grade teacher, Natalie Mazurek, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event.  Sabin teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

The Sabin Dual Language Magnet School plan to use the money raised from the fun event by purchasing individual technology devices.  The staff raised $500.00 at the event thanks to Mr. Joe Lazio and Mr. Brian Beeh who encouraged all the families to bring home a tasty apple pie!
