The Community As A Campus Youth Quest for Empowerment Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (CAACYQE) provides culturally, developmentally and age appropriate teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and HIV/AIDS prevention services to Latino and African American adolescents and youth ages 14-18 years of age who are in grades 9th – 12th. Program services are also inclusive of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trangender and Queer (LGBTQ) youth.
Participating youth will receive, at no cost to them or their school:
- Weekly after school programming Monday – Thursday, 3:30PM – 5:30PM, beginning March 15, 2016 – June 2016, Location: Batey Urbano Youth Center 2620 W. Division St.)
- Assistance in completing service learning projects as outlined by their school’s standards of completion.
- Evidence based comprehensive sexual education curriculum with skill-based lessons (On-site or Batey Urbano)
- Positive Youth Development (PYD) opportunities such as: culturally relevant programming, local service learning and civic engagement opportunities.
- Referrals to family planning, STI, HIV testing and other health human services.
- Participation in raising public awareness of teen pregnancy and available resources that is inclusive of both an abstinence and comprehensive sexual health approach through journalism and theatrical performances and more…
